今日、紹介するのはSam Smithです。イギリスの若手ホープのアーティストで、映画007でもWriting's on the Wallという曲を歌っていましたよね。その彼の甘くもちょっと大人っぽい歌詞をリスニングしながら、TOEICのお勉強をしてみましょう。

和訳と文法

You told me not to cry when you were gone （あなたは別れても泣いてはダメだよと僕に言った）

じゃ、ここからは、文法をピックアップしてみましょう。

・先ずは、言う系の使い方。これは空欄問題でも出るので一気に全部確認してみましょう。

S tell 人　O（that）

S say O（名詞）to 人
S say to人 O（that節）
ただし、今回のtellはtell O to doの使い方！つまり5文型ですね。
Oにto do するように言う

つまり、You told me not to cryは「僕に泣かないでと君は言う」

まあこれは、英語の民が使用する、関西人の「せやな～」みたいもんです
万事OKで、大丈夫で、申し分ない、結構な、好都合な、差し支えない、構わない、問題［間違い・異常］ない、

・lieとlayの違いってよく大学入試やTOEICでも出るのですが大丈夫ですか？

・make sure　これは大事な熟語「確実に～する」
後ろがofなら句でthatなら節がきます。
